Among the meticulously selected jewelry designers at Stowe Craft Gallery, Saundra Messinger is one our most widely desired. Known for her brushed sterling silver, Saundra’s unique designs capture and balance strength and femininity. The quirky, asymmetrical forms are enhanced by tiny faceted diamonds that highlight the shimmering matte finish.
A successful singing career in New York and working with fashion designer Eileen Fisher for nearly a decade lead Saundra to begin creating jewelry in the late 1990’s. Not having any formal training, Saundra says she is “taught and inspired by life.” When living in a cottage along the shores of the Hudson River, she remembers waking early in the morning to find the light bouncing off the steely grey surface; the thrill of seeing “diamonds on the water” has impacted Saundra’s “perfectly imperfect” designs.
These cutting edge designs, with their timeless elegance, have earned wide recognition from the jewelry and fashion industry. Her work is prized by jewelry collectors throughout the world, including celebrities Bette Midler and Debra Messing!
For Saundra, one of the most important aspects of being a designer, and one of the most exciting, occurs when she notices women wearing her work. Once, while people watching in an airport, she recalls appreciating another woman’s sense of style — her great shoes and bag… and JEWELRY! She was wearing SAUNDRA MESSINGER!
Saundra’s career as a jewelry designer serves as a shining example of her philosophy, learned from her father, Berny, that anything can be accomplished if you just believe it is possible.
