Industrial modern furniture at Stowe Craft & Design has historic details. It is not only salvaged, it uses and preserves American history! One example, there is one specific American product in several pieces of furniture without which skyscaper cities would not exist.
Both the tables shown here use a special kind of steel I beam. This wide flange beam is a true part of American history. It was born at the Grey Mill of Bethlehem Steel along the banks of the Lehigh River in 1908. Up till then, a tall building was 5 – 10 stories. With it, American architects were able to design and build skyscapers to heights that had once only known the flight of birds. And for 20 years, Bethlehem steel was the only mill which could make them. And a piece of that is the skyscraper – and that piece of history is what could be in your livingroom.
