Crescent Coast by William Hays is a 5-color, 12x9 linoleum block, linocut print from a limited edition of 100.
This print focuses on a natural moonlit bluff. This print is created with a limited palette of colors focusing on the deep blues of nighttime. Each small detail is carved with care, the foam of the waves create movement in the shoreline and the reflection of the moonlight on the water add another level of realism.
“For thirteen years my late wife and I spent the four months of summer in our house on the coast of Nova Scotia. We walked the shoreline and beaches in many places and this composition is based on an oil painting I did in 2005. Night is exquisite, with very little artificial light to obscure the stars.” ~ William Hays
